After-School Classes
A creative finish to
the school day
Our after-school pottery classes give children time to build, explore, and express themselves. We bring ceramics education to participating schools, combining hands-on projects with connections to art history and culture.
What children learn
Students explore handbuilding techniques such as pinching, coiling, and working with slabs. They learn how clay can become a container, a creature, a sculpture, or something entirely their own. Decorating their work gives them another opportunity to experiment with color, texture, and design.
Projects introduce children to artworks and pottery traditions while leaving room for individual choices. Students practice planning a three-dimensional form, joining pieces, and adjusting an idea as it takes shape.

Example projects
A winter animal shaker, a heart coil plate, or a design-your-own pinch pot gives students a starting point for their own interpretation. Projects change with the session; these examples illustrate the curriculum and are not a promise of a specific project lineup
